Photos: Belleville, Ontario. The first one was shot not far from where I lived, and a view I saw every single day. The photo below is a little more special to me … I would often come here and sit, just thinking. One of my favourite photos that I ever took in school, and maybe ever, was shot here. The Bay of Quinte was always calm and quiet, perfect for relaxing and reflection. I loved having a lake so close - something Edmonton didn’t have.

Reminiscing …

For some reason, Ontario came to my mind tonight. It’s amazing to think how I was living literally a completely different life than I am now. That part of my life was spent as a student, exploring a new city and province, finding a new church, living with a new family, all the while trying out this photojournalism thing at school. A few people came to my mind tonight, who warmly welcomed me into their community - even though I was just a silly Albertain! Seriously though, throughout my two years of school, about 8 months each time, I was blessed time and time again with the most amazing people. Literally dozens of names come to mind when I think about those who invited me to events or to hang out, checked in to see how I was doing, and were always there if I needed to talk.

While I was there … okay, this might sound weird. But I was living there! I wasn’t just visiting - that was my life for a good amount of time - and I got used to my surroundings and the people around me. I grew accustomed to Skyping with my family, riding the bus to school and getting a ride to church each Sunday. Now, a year out of college, it’s crazy to think that it all even happened. It’s funny how it all seems now.
